Zach Miller from CrossFit Pittsburgh was in a terrible car accident this past week and we are trying to get the CrossFit community to get together and help support his family in this tragic time. For those of you who don’t know Zach, he was a great competitor, loved CrossFit, and always had great energy that he brought to everyone around him.

People at the Mid Atlantic Hopper last year would probably recognize him by his goofy outfits, extremely short shorts, and incredible competitive drive. He placed 3rd last year.

I know I say rad alot at the gym but Zach is truly as rad as they come. The family is in dire need of financial assistance as Zachs mother is moving in with trainers of CrossFit Pittsburgh in this hard time. I would like to get some money, grocery cards, gas cards, etc together for his family and get them up there ASAP.

Let’s do our part and help out a fellow crossfitter in need.

Email Ryan@crossfitbwi.com or Luke@crossfitbwi.com if you want to help!

1) Please be sure that you are able to compete before you register. There are NO 100% refunds this year. A comprehensive breakdown of the refund timeline is as follows: Aug 15 – Sep 30 = 90% Oct 1 – Oct 14 = 75% Oct 15 – Oct 31 = 50% Nov 1 – Nov [...]

1) Please be sure that you are able to compete before you register.

There are NO 100% refunds this year. A comprehensive breakdown of the refund timeline is as follows:

Aug 15 – Sep 30 = 90%

Oct 1 – Oct 14 = 75%

Oct 15 – Oct 31 = 50%

Nov 1 – Nov 12 = No refund.

We appreciate your understanding of this change from previous years.

2) Teams will have four or five members.

There must be AT LEAST two men and two women on the team. However, the fifth position can be an additional man or woman. Each team will have to determine what will benefit them more, an additional guy or gal. There is no price difference if a team chooses to only bring four members.

3) There’s an opportunity for a 20-person master’s division this year, for athletes 45 and over.

However, ten men and ten women over 45 must register by Sep 30th in order for that Master’s division to be established. In the event that enough people don’t register for the Master’s, those athletes who have registered for the Master’s division will then compete with everybody in the Open division. For example, if 10 women and 5 men over 45 register by Sep 30th, then there will be a Female Master’s Division and NO Male Master’s Division. On Oct 1st, those five men would be moved into the Open division and the remaining 5 spots would be offered to the athletes on the wait list. Please remember that if you register for the Master’s division and it isn’t established due to a lack of interest, you agree to still compete. If you decide that you don’t want to compete because there won’t be a Master’s division, then you will only be eligible for the refund that is available on the date you request to withdraw.

4) With the opportunity for a 20-person master’s division, the field for individuals in the Open division will be reduced to 100, 50 men and 50 women.

There will be a wait list for athletes who don’t register before we are full. In the event that 50 men or 50 women don’t register by October 1st, those spots will be opened up to those on the wait list regardless of sex. For example, 50 men and 30 women are registered for the Open division on Sep 30th. On Oct 1, the remaining 20 spots will be offered to the first 20 athletes on the wait list.

If you have any questions, you can post them here or email john@crossfitbwi.com.
